For this shot created for "Rider" I was responsible for creating the Blind Rider vehicle, setting up rigid body dynamics for the crash, simulating the crash, and animating. In addition I created multiple debris and dust FX layers, a pyro-simulation for the engine, and the IED explosion.

The nitro canister was modeled in Maya, with simulations created in Houdini and rendered in Arnold. The shot was composited in Nuke.

I was responsible for managing the visual effects for this project, which includes talent recruitment, shot planning, on-set VFX supervision, post-production management, and compositing. I have always wanted to build one of these, but lacked the resources and mechanical expertise to assemble one in the real world. In Houdini I created a procedural gear system that sped up my process of modeling this device tenfold! The gears turning animation is automatically adjusted with to adust for the number of teeth in both gears.
