“America’s Consequence: The Game Show” is a short film directed by Hannah Setzler and produced by Amelia Prouse. The story explores various political themes and is centered around a wacky game show.
I first heard of the project through Sean Hussey at the SCAD Production Office where we both worked. Hannah had reached out to Sean about needing a VFX Supervisor for her project, so Sean reached out to me and I thought the project was interesting enough to hop on board.
After the storyboards were completed I planned for about 30 VFX shots. The shots were all medium complexity, mostly keying, roto, and a lot of screen placement. I wrangled 4 additional artists to help with creating the visual effects for this project.
We opted to use After Effects instead of Nuke for this project as we felt some of the tools included inside After Effects were better suited for creating CRT screen-placements.
After all the visual effects shots were completed, I had all the artists deliver their AE project folders so I could do any extra refinements and make sure the visual effects were properly exported for the colorist who preferred to work in ACES.
